Acquisition of Immovable Property in Cyprus

Cypriot nationals and national of E.U. member states who reside permanently in Cyprus
Cypriot nationals, as well as nationals of E.U. member states who permanently reside in Cyprus, have the right to acquire immovable property in Cyprus, without any restrictions.

 

Nationals of E.U. member states who are permanent residents of Cyprus
Nationals of E.U. member states who do not reside permanently in Cyprus, can buy more than one property, but can only transfer the title deed in their name solely, for one apartment or villa or plot, or any other property.

The restrictions that apply for nationals of member states of the EU that do not reside permanently in Cyprus, will be lifted following 2009, and all E.U. nationals will enjoy equivalent rights to the Cypriot national, independently of their residence status.

Nationals of non-EU. Member states
All nationals of Non-EU states can acquire only one from the following:
*An apartment, or a house, or a plot of land of maximum 4,014 square metres.

To acquire the right of residency in the Republic of Cyprus, our Law provides that only under certain circumstances it is possible to obtain temporary or long-term residency status, and that is as long as the applicants own immovable property in Cyprus, reside within areas controlled by the Republic and their income status is such so as to maintain themselves without working within the Republic of Cyprus.
