The summit held on 18-19 October 2018 with the central theme to strengthen Europe-Asia sustainable connectivity in order to bring countries, people and societies closer.
During the meeting they had the opportunity to discuss how to manage the global challenges like the climate change, migration and digitalisation.
They also emphasized on the major need of maintaining an open world economy and sustain the trading system with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) at its core. The leaders draw attention on strengthening and reforming the WTO to meet new challenges and to improve its functioning. They also pointed out the importance of further economic integration both at the regional and global level.
In the margins of the summit, the EU and Singapore signed a free trade agreement as well as an investment protection agreement.
Creating better connection and cooperation between the two continents will rise trade, improve security, preserve the environment, and finally will bring a better future for the upcoming generations.
