Every year, Limassol celebrates the Wine Festival at the end of August- beginning of September for 10 days, in a celebration full of drinking wine, dancing, eating traditional Cypriot food and other activities.,

The wine festival started in 1961 and this year will be the 57th celebration. Staring on the 31th of August entrance fee has been decreased to €5 per person. Its success made thousands of people visit the festival, have fun and taste various types of wines. 

Each ticket holder is entitled to a 20% discount on any bottled wine of their choice from the four major wineries (Loel, KEO, Etko, and Sodap). 

The festival is seen as a revival of ancient manifestations in honor of the god of vine and pleasure Dionysus and the goddess of beauty and love Aphrodite. 
 
During these festivals, people show reverence and adoration to the gods and at the same time they enjoy themselves. It is stated that the wine festival has become an annual fun and entertaining event where visitors enjoy the performers and entertainers from all over Cyprus.
