New plans and development possibilities are on the table for Larnaca, the replacement of the oil facilities eyesore will bring fresh air and a breath of relief to the frustrated residents of the area.

The decision to decommission the oil facilities will bring many possibilities for Larnaca, more valuable spaces will become available for the creation of new projects. The municipality already has some ideas such as linear parks along with cycle lanes to improve connectivity and beautify the area. Water taxis, a linear park or even a tram system could soon come to Larnaca, as the municipality is planning how to best utilise the areas freed up from the oil storage facilities just outside the town.

Key seafront sites in Larnaca are set for a major overhaul creating valuable space for new projects. This is a great opportunity for Larnaca to become more competitive by attracting more local and foreign visitors.

The municipality is eager to get ahead with the developments and a meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades took place on August 31.
